Music Of The Night

Favourite song in Marina Mandarin: Music of the Night

So one night when Alvin, Zhai and me were there (one or two years ago...), dono which clever one ask: wats the hokkien translation for 'Music of the Night'?
We thought for the night, and can't figure out a right translation... until yesterday...

Apparently, Alvin's friend (an apparent potato according to him) found the answer (put us to shame...):

"Am Mi Eh Yim Qag"

Am Mi = Night
Eh = 's
Yim Qag = Music

Clap clap clap...

Quote from "Wathefish"

Quote below from Wat The Fish!?

"Juz bcoz neighbour sign agreement, doesn't mean they will let u have cheap drinks forever,
Juz bcoz u donate money, doesn't mean u will always have sandwiches,
Juz bcoz private sector earn peanuts, doesn't mean u should get the same,
Juz bcoz ppl want to go the opposite way, doesn't mean u need to fix them,
Juz bcoz erection is over, doesn't mean u can take us for granted,
Tax is gonna increase, and we know it's not going to stop here..."

Rubik's Cube

After having it for more than a year, finally decided to do some reading and learn how to return it to the correct state... took a few days to solve it, thanks to an online guide that is simple to understand with its step by step beginner's approach. But if you are interested in looking deeper into the rationale for each move, it gets pretty complicated... Feels like reading programming code, and trying to understand the algorithm...

But its really fun... Ok, Ed has been saying that I'm a geek...

First layer solved

Middle layer solved

Cube solved!

Hatta Excursion

We went on a short road trip to Hatta last weekend, which was organised by the group of Singaporeans here. Hatta is 1.5 hrs drive away from Dubai, and is a rural and quiet place, totally unlike the city.
We also went to play the quad-bike in the desert on our way back... damn shiok... haven got the pics yet, will upload when i got them...

Just A Normal Car

Ford Mondeo, 2004, 2.0 litre, automatic

Bought it last week... AED 22,000...
Settled for a normal car, looks like i'll be giving the desert a miss for a while... But automatic transmission is most welcome for the terrible traffic here...

Dead broke again... sigh...

Doughnut Hole

Saw this in today's paper...

On March 18, 1886, an anonymous reader of The Boston Globe wrote to the editor: "Can a man get fat on a diet of doughnut holes?" The reader promptly answered his own question: "Doughnut holes can only be introduced into the stomach by swallowing the doughnut whole."

That brings us to another question: Why do doughnuts have holes?
Answer here.
